Food Friday: Restaurant Quick Fixes

Hey all, another short food entry, but I promise to get these going better soon. Once classes start Monday, I will have a better idea of my schedule.

Anyway, I love going out to eat. My weight is a good indicator of that, but since I became a vegetarian (4 years now!) I have come up with a few filling way to eat and have some control over what is going into me.

1) Start with a salad. This is crucial! Salads are one of most filling/best things for you!
2) With drinks, order plain water if you can. If you REALLY need something else, go for a diet soda. Don't waste calories here.
3) Look at the appetizer menu. You can pick something from there, but if all the calorie/fat content scares you away....
4) Look at the side dish menu. When I go to red lobster, I always order Salad and a baked potato. It might not say on the menu that they do this, but remember you are PAYING these people. 9 times out of 10 they will be accommodating.

Now, you might be saying "Okay, I may have saved a bunch of calories, but I am still HUNGRY!!!" Well, with all those saved calories, you can to treat yourself to an after dinner drink or small dessert.

Neat trick huh?

What are some of your eating out tricks?

Wardrobe Wednesday: Ten Thousand Villages

Ten Thousand Villages is one of my favorite stores for Jewelry even though it is not really a jewelry store. They carry everything from Jewelry, to stationary, to toys, to musical instruments. The beauty is everything is handmade.

Their Mission is simple:

Ten Thousand Villages provides vital, fair income to Third World people by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. Ten Thousand Villages works with artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed. This income helps pay for food, education, health care and housing. Ten Thousand Villages is a nonprofit program of Mennonite Central Committee

You can order online or go to a store. one of the things I love is that almost everything is one of a kind. So take a look around and maybe you can find something special for you or even as a gift!

Shop on!

Makeup Monday: CO Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine / Breath Freshener # 502

CO Bigelow boasts that:

Our mint-infused lip balm provides a glossy high shine with a refreshing cooling sensation. Lips stay moist and protected while peppermint oil gives breath a long-lasting freshness.

I agree with all of this, but there is one thing I don't like. A little tube of it costs $7.50

Here is a quick before:

And after:

So as you see, it does give a good shine, but I can't get over the price. I would keep in in your bag though for those sweet kiss moments.

There is not much to say, so I am going to leave you with the cheat sheet:

Rating: 3

Product Cheat sheet:
Available at: Bath & Body Works is the only place I can find it.
Cost: $7.50 for .5 oz
Good for: mint lovers
Pros: Very minty, not sticky, fresh feeling.
Cons: Holy Schmoly the cost! Lack of ready availability.

Weekend Whatever! Body Art!

No video this week! I have something more important! (Well... to me at least!)

Friday (8/14/09) at 3:30 PM, my neck looked like this:

By 5 PM, it looked like this:

Yes... I got a tattoo...

Now, it was not as painful as I thought it was going to be! There was some pain, but it was more like a dull burning sensation. This is how it went down:

On Wednesday, I went in and put down a $20 dollar deposit to reserve my spot.

I worked on exactly what I wanted them to tattoo on me. I had wanted stars so I came up with jewel tones with a gold outline.

I got there and he replicated my drawing on to special paper and I loved it. so after pulling my hair out of the way, they got started. It only took about 30 minutes and as I said I didn't really feel anything. it was more of a tickle.

So, that's that. Total cost: $80.

I am so excited and kinda want another one....

See you all tomorrow!

Food Friday! Hungry Girl

Hey everyone!

So, this has been a CRAZY week!

My mom's birthday, house sitting, the Youtube issue... any way, today, I have a copout post.

I want to tell you all about Hungry Girl!

I have been a subscriber for YEARS. All her stuff is cheap and simple and GOOD! Now, I haven't tried EVERYTHING, but everything I have is yummy.

Now, Lisa Lillien, is NOT a doctor. She just likes food!

Take a peek around her site and let me know what you think!

Now, it is 1:30 AM and I need to go to bed. I have a HUGE Weekend Whatever! coming this weekend! Yay!

See you all soon!
